Indigenous Permaculture Knowledge could be said to be understandings of those deep and treasured principles of Life itself.  These principles are not only discoveries of how things work but discoveries of how things are.  We are all indigenous to the human experience and have the tools of balanced heart and mind to access timeless knowledge.  This knowledge connects us in the deepest ways with ourselves, with each other and with all of Creation. 

Each one of us has family or ancestral traditions and ways of living together in Nature and Community that have been passed down from generation to generation through art, story, tradition, ceremony and song.  These permaculture wisdom seeds form the basis of human culture.

 In the same spirit that seedbank projects are springing up in countries around the world to preserve diversity of heirloom seeds, the Fifth World Lifeway website has been created as a living knowledge seedbank Wiki where we can preserve, share, and build upon these priceless and time tested life ways that help us answer the question "How then shall we live?"

Humanity stands at a momentous decision point during this very generation. For the first time in recorded history, choices we make in this pivotal generation will impact the quality of life and perhaps the very existence of all life on the planet we call home. No longer do we have the luxury of pushing responsibility of these choices off on our children. The world our children inherit will be a direct result of our current choices. The call to action grows louder each day.
